McMullen’s are a brewer and pub retailer that was established over 195 years ago! We have a diverse range of pubs across the southeast with some truly iconic locations. Our head office is based at our Brewery in Hertford where we have continuously brewed our famous Macs beer since 1827!

This person will take responsibility for the network and server infrastructure of the company. They will advise on, and manage the design, implementation and optimization of secure, resilient and effective IT infrastructure at Head Office and the entire estate.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the virtual server environment, data storage, backup & disaster recovery (DR), and firewall and network configuration.
  • Oversee network and endpoint security, vulnerability management, internet and email security, MS Office 365 and other systems.
  • Manage hardware, software, and services selection, procurement, configuration, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Liaise with third-party partners and support and advise colleagues on infrastructure issues
  • Monitor, maintain and optimise infrastructure capacity, performance, and security.
  • Design and implement effective and resilient network solutions for our Head office and 90 remote locations
  • Evaluate and optimize network performance, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues.
  • Assess and identify potential vulnerabilities and risks in IT systems, design and implement security solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze security events and incidents, conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Design, implement, migrate, and maintain software systems related to networks and security (AD, DNS, DHCP etc)
  • Design and manage a HyperV/Cluster environment and also an Azure infrastructure and their security

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong technical skills in network hardware (Fortinet, Sophos, HP/Aruba, Meraki, Cisco and others); software (Windows servers, Miradore/Intune/MDM, SolarWinds, VOIP, VPNs); virtual hosted environments (particularly Azure)
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the design and management of security systems including network monitoring tools
  • Ability to resolve complex problems logically, calmly and methodically.
  • Good judgment to involve and communicate with vendors, external partners, others in the I.T. Team, and operators throughout the business
  • Calm but responsive approach to assisting users with connectivity; mobile phone; VOIP phone or laptop/pc issues
  • The Right to Work in the UK
  • A cool head under pressure and a logical, problem-solving approach
  • Full Driving license preferred but not essential
  • Must Work from the office at least 3 days a week.
